Bristol University. Research Associate in ENergy Efficient Adaptive Computing with multi-grain heterogeneous architectures (ENEAC)

Research Associate Senior/Research Associate in ENergy Efficient Adaptive Computing with multi-grain heterogeneous architectures (ENEAC)
Based in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Bristol University, you will investigate the possibility of creating energy efficient computing systems based on CPU+FPGA+GPU hybrids.
In particular the post will focus on developing energy efficient adaptive systems in which tasks are assigned to the computing resource that minimizes overall energy requirements. These systems will vary their voltage, frequency at run-time to adapt to the requirements of the application. Predicting optimal execution resources during application execution and minimizing overheads during state transitions are key milestones required for the success of the project.

PhD in computer science. University of Luxembourg.

The University of Luxembourg and in particular the group lead by Professor Pascal Bouvry looks for an excellent candidate for a PhD in computer science for hermeneutics.

Nowadays, the total amount of data available increase in an exponential manner. The number of document formats used to perform research also exploded to include classical one such as books, photos, videos, sounds, or non conventional formats such as participative writing platforms, text blogs, websites or ephemeral data. The purpose of Digital History is to handle these various sources of information to perform research and analysis.
The work is related to big data analytics, graph traversals and clustering problems. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in combinatorial optimisation, graph theory and good programming skills (Python, Java or C++).
Funding is available for 3 years.
The student will work within an interdisciplinary environment (Computer Scientists, Historians, etc) in a group (13 positions are available in the different useful fields).
If you are interested, please send a motivation letter and a CV to Professor by e-mail with as subject “DHH PhD”.
The project should start mid of January 2017.
