Institution Background

INESC Porto – Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering of Porto – is a private non-profit association, recognized as a Public Interest Institution and an Associate Laboratory since 2002. INESC Porto invests in Scientific Research and Technological Development, as well as in Advanced Training and Consulting, Technology Transfer and supports the Establishment of new Technology-based Companies. INESC Porto was created to act as an interface between the academic world, the world of industry and services and the public administration in Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Electronics (ITT&E). Its activities range from research and development to technology transfer, consulting and advanced training. INESC Porto is guided by the following criteria: innovation, internationalization and social and economic impact and aims to form a group of strategic partners that can guarantee the institution’s stability and economic sustainability.

 

Research Group Background

The Center for Telecommunications and Multimedia performs Research & Development in key areas that will lay the foundations for modern communications networks and services such as network architectures, telecommunications services, signal and image processing, optical technologies, microelectronics, digital TV and multimedia. Our vision is that of a lively and sustainable world where networked intelligence enables ubiquitous interaction with sensory-rich content. Development of advanced systems and technologies enabling high capacity, efficient, and secure communications, media knowledge extraction, and immersive ubiquitous multimedia applications.
