Radu Prodan is Associate Professor at the Institute of Computer Science, University of Innsbruck. He held previous research positions at ETH Zürich, University of Basel, Swiss Centre for Scientific Computing, and University of Vienna. He received his Ph.D. in 2004 from Vienna University of Technology and his Habilitation degree in 2009 from the University of Innsbruck. His research interests are on parallel and distributed systems, with particular focus on programming methods, compiler technology, performance analysis, optimisation techniques, and scheduling for scientific and industrial applications. Prodan participated in his career in numerous national and international projects. He served as workpackage leader in two European projects (edutain@grid and SHIWA) and currently coordinates four national projects ammounting over €1 million of research funds. Prodan is also involved in industrial research such as onling gaming and Monte Carlo simulations for semiconductor technology (the later as part of the eRamp ENIAC EU – national joint undertaking project started in April 2014). He is the author of over 100 journal and conference publications, one book, and received one IEEE best paper award. He is also heavily involved in teaching at the University of Innsbruck, not only through specialised Master courses in the area of parallel and distributed systems, but also through fundamental lectures such as first semester Introduction to Computer Science, Operating Systems, and Compiler Construction.
