To further promote an International competitiveness in our prized students, the University has adopted English language as the medium of instruction. The objective of the establishing of the University of Information Science and Technologies “St. Paul the Apostle” Ohrid is profiling highly educated cadres which will meet the demand on the labor market for creative and inventive engineers and scientists in the field of information science and technology.

The university has professional personnel that possess extensive experience in the preparation and realization of scientific-research activities, participation in renowned international conferences with research papers, and publication of research papers in international journals. In addition, a successful cooperation in international projects is being realized in the country and abroad, in FP7 and ERASMUS program, thus affirming the University of Information Science and Technology” St. Paul the Apostle”, Ohrid, as a reputable higher education institution in the scientific and research society.

Research group background

The HPCS research group at the University for Information Science and Technology is the initiator and supporter of the high performance movement among the young students and researchers in the Republic of Macedonia. In 2010 the University promoted the first High Performance Cluster in the country, which was developed “by the students for the students”. The members of this research group were the coordinators of this project. Even though, the issues addressed by the research group primarily deal with HPCS in health and wellbeing technologies, the group is actively involved in diverse set of scientific projects, covering high performance and distributed computing architectures, high performance computing networks and switches, resource optimization in multicore system, parallel computer vision algorithms for personalized prostate cancer therapy and high performance optimization on EEG pattern classification for Brain-to-Computer Interface and biomedical applications.

Major Interest in Action Scientific Topics

The main activities of the research group are focused towards:

1. Parallel Multiobjective optimization;

2. Cloud based Brain-to-computer Interface (BCI) frameworks;

3. Parallel analysis of biomedical images;

4. Development of HPC Architectures and Interconnection Systems;

5. Management of computational resources.
